They’re made with a breathable, lightweight, moisture-wicking bamboo blend for everyday comfort.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
Just wash them like your regular socks, separately from other clothing.
The built-in tick protection is bonded to the fabric and lasts through 70 washes, unlike DIY permethrin spray that lasts around 6 washes.
Do not dry clean. (But who’s dry-cleaning socks anyway?)
Wear → wash → repeat.
Built-in tick protection
Built-in tick protection
We've partnered with Insect Shield® to use their EPA-registered permethrin textile technology in our socks.
(Psst…the US Army treats all combat uniforms issued to soldiers with Insect Shield’s built-in treatment, too!)
The active ingredient (0.52% permethrin) is bonded directly to the fabric fibers of each sock during manufacturing.
As a result, the built-in repellency lasts through 70 washes (unlike DIY permethrin spray that lasts around 6 washes).
It's invisible and odorless – they look, feel, and smell like regular socks, except they repel ticks.
No spraying, no reapplication, and no guesswork.

Lasts through 70 washes
Factory-bonded permethrin that's built into the fabric fibers and proven to last through 70 washes – no need to spray or reapply anything yourself.
Proven to repel ticks
Proven to repel ticks (including those which may carry Lyme disease), as well as mosquitoes, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums).
The US Army uses the same treatment
Powered by Insect Shield® technology – the same permethrin textile technology used by the US Army to treat all combat uniforms.
73.6x less likely to have a tick bite
A University of Rhode Island study found that people wearing permethrin-treated shoes and socks were 73.6 times less likely to have a tick bite.

Is permethrin-treated clothing safe for humans?
Permethrin has been an EPA-registered product since 1977, with an excellent safety record. It's used in lice shampoos for children, flea dips for dogs, and various other products.
We use Insect Shield® textile technology – it's approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use by the whole family, and has an EPA safety rating of Category IV – the highest safety level awarded.
To receive its EPA registration, the Insect Shield® permethrin technology was extensively tested, confirming no adverse effects on people, animals, or the environment.
Additionally, the Hohenstein Institute (an accredited test laboratory and research institute) have performed extensive allergy and skin sensitivity tests and awarded Insect Shield with “Hypoallergenic” and “No Allergy Potential” labels.
Insect Shield also commissions its own third-party studies on the efficacy and reliability of its products, continuously monitoring the chemistry, application, and final products.
Permethrin-treated clothing is recommended by many trusted organizations, including:
- The American Academy of Family Physicians
- The World Health Organization (WHO)
-National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety
- The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Can they be worn around cats?
Yes. While permethrin can be harmful to cats in liquid form, Insect Shield’s repellency is so tightly bound to the fabric fibers – in such minimal amounts – that it does not pose a risk to cats, even in multi-pet households.
We use Insect Shield® technology, which is bonded directly to the fabric fibers of each sock during manufacturing and lasts through 70 washes, unlike DIY permethrin spray that sit on top of fabric and lasts around 6 washes.
How does permethrin work?
When ticks come into contact with permethrin, it affects their nervous system – they become paralyzed, fall off, and often die.
Permethrin has been an EPA-registered product since 1977, with an excellent safety record. It's used in lice shampoos for children, flea dips for dogs, and various other products.
We use Insect Shield® technology, which is bonded directly to the fabric fibers of each sock during manufacturing and lasts through 70 washes, unlike DIY permethrin spray that sit on top of fabric and lasts around 6 washes.
Because the permethrin is bonded to the fabric fibers (not sitting on your skin like bug spray), the treatment remains effective without you having to apply anything yourself.
Do they really repel ticks?!
Yes!
We use Insect Shield® technology, which is EPA-registered and proven to repel ticks (including those which may carry Lyme disease), as well as mosquitoes, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums).

Do Tick Socks replace bug spray?
No – tick prevention works best as a layered approach. There is no one single solution, unfortunately 😔
Tick Socks are an easy, set-and-forget layer of protection for where ticks crawl first.
In addition to wearing Tick Socks, you could also try:
- Using bug spray on exposed skin
- Tucking your pants into your socks
- Putting your clothes in the dryer before you head inside
- Doing nightly tick checks
- Keeping tick tweezers handy
Do they repel anything besides ticks?
Yes – they repel ticks, mosquitoes, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums).
Who can wear them?
Everyone.
The Insect Shield® textile technology that we use in our socks is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use by the whole family, and has an EPA safety rating of Category IV – the highest safety level awarded.

What do they smell and feel like?
Tick Socks feel and smell just like your other clothes.
The Insect Shield protection is invisible & odorless – you can’t tell it’s there, but the ticks can.
How do Tick Socks compare to DIY permethrin sprays?
DIY permethrin spray sits on top of the fabric fibers and typically lasts around 6 washes.
We use Insect Shield's factory-bonded permethrin treatment – it's built into the fabric fibers, and is proven to last through 70 washes.
How do they compare to bug sprays?
Unlike topical bug sprays, the repellent:
- can't be overused
- doesn't absorb into your skin
- can't be inhaled or swallowed
- isn't harmful to your eyes
- doesn't come off when you sweat
- doesn't require reapplication
Because the repellent is bonded to the fabric (not applied to skin), there’s also nothing to transfer onto hands, furniture, or kids.
They’re not a replacement for bug sprays on exposed skin – just an easier layer of protection for the first place ticks crawl.
Does the repellent absorb into skin?
No.
Tick Socks use Insect Shield’s factory-bonded treatment, where the active ingredient (0.52% permethrin) is bonded directly to the fabric fibers, unlike permethrin sprays that sits on top of fabric fibers or bug sprays that are applied directly to your skin.
Because of this built-in process, the permethrin does not transfer to, or absorb into, your skin or the environment.
What are they made from?
Tick Socks are made from a breathable, lightweight bamboo blend that’s soft, moisture-wicking, and comfortable for everyday wear.
Fabric composition by color:
- White: 73% bamboo, 20% polyester, 5% nylon, 2% spandex
- Green: 73% bamboo, 20% polyester, 5% nylon, 2% spandex
- Blue: 73% bamboo, 20% polyester, 5% nylon, 2% spandex
- Yellow: 65% bamboo, 23% polyester, 10% nylon, 2% spandex
They feel and smell just like normal socks, except they have built-in tick protection.
Where are they made?
Our bamboo socks are knitted in China, home to the world’s largest bamboo plantations.
After knitting, they’re sent to Insect Shield’s state-of-the-art facility, where the tick-repellent treatment is bonded directly to the fabric fibers.
They’re then returned to our manufacturer for finishing and packaging before being shipped to you.
(We absorb all tariff costs so there are no surprises at checkout).
How do I wash them?
Just wash them like your regular socks, separately from other clothing.
The built-in tick protection is bonded to the fabric and lasts through 70 washes.
Do not dry clean. (But who’s dry-cleaning socks anyway?)
FAQ (Ordering & Shipping)
Can I buy one pair of socks instead of a box of 4?
Tick Socks are only available in boxes containing 4 pairs.
Firstly, a mix-and-match box gives you the best value and convenience – four days of protection for you, the perfect gift for friends or family, or a little bit of everything: one for you, one for your partner, one for your kid, and one for that friend or family member who seems to be a tick magnet.
Secondly (being totally transparent), because they’re made from premium bamboo, have custom designs, and we absorb costs like tariffs and shipping, we’d actually lose money selling single pairs. As a small business it just wouldn’t be viable unfortunately.
If you don’t love them, you’re always covered by our money-back guarantee – but most people end up grabbing a few boxes for friends and family.
What sizes do they come in?
Tick Socks come in four sizes, for kids through to adults.
